When you have been dating your boyfriend for less than a year, holidays can be a little tricky to figure out. Whether it is a birthday after dating for only a few months, or Christmas after six months together, you may have no idea what you should get him or how much to spend. It is often great to set limits for each other, to take the whole guessing game out of the picture. If you feel comfortable enough, talk about setting a price limit for the holiday so you will both breathe easier.
Birthday
If your man's birthday is coming up and you have dated less than a year, there is no need to go overboard. You should think about getting him something practical. Some girls choose to give tickets to a sporting event or a small gift bag of his favorite items. Remember, if you are not in that "true" commitment phase of the relationship, you don't need to spend a lot.
Christmas
Christmas can make you feel as if you need to purchase your boyfriend of less than a year something special. If you feel confident that you are going to be together for a while, you can indulge a bit with concert tickets, an overnight trip to a favorite destination, expensive cologne, or even a watch. However, don't feel as if you must spend a lot. The sentimental value is likely more important than anything else. Remember, the holiday season is not supposed to be all about gifts!
