When you have dated a girl for more than a year and her birthday or another major holiday rolls around, she is going to expect something from you. A birthday gift that your girlfriend will love is a spa package. Go for the most expensive one you can afford. Get her the massage, the manicure, the pedicure, and more. She will love it and you will love bringing a smile to her face. It is a gift she would not likely ever purchase for herself, but she will love just the same.
If you don't think she is into the spa scene, you may want to give her something very romantic and sentimental. You could make a photo collection of your memories together. Or, if you think far enough ahead, you could write her a love letter each day so that you could bind them in a book and give them to her on her birthday. If you can do this for a few months, she will melt when reading them.
Christmas
Most girls love jewelry for Christmas. So, if you can afford it, go ahead and buy that necklace or bracelet she has been eying for months. Steer clear of earrings, only because the box is so similar in shape to an engagement ring and she might get the wrong idea about the gift before she opens it. You certainly don't want the embarrassment of not proposing when she assumes you are going to!
